something a little bit more serious

okay ive had it. normally i stand on the sidelines reserving my own opinion, so that i dont get in stupid political arguments with friends. ive seen it in 3 aim profiles already, ive read about it on forums. its that same congess.ORG website thats turning heads regarding an incoming draft. and where is that bill as of now? just sitting around like thousands of other bills in congress. and its still sitting around. and i think if any other senators decide to back the bill, theyll kill their chances of re-election via constituency indifference.

To provide for the common defense by requiring that all young persons in the United States, including women, perform a period of military service or a period of civilian service in furtherance of the national defense and homeland security, and for other purposes.

normally when people think of the draft, they immediately think theyll automatically be placed into combat. there are plenty of deskjobs in the military. not that im trying to reassure you that the military is the greatest thing in the world. the army itself has stated multiple times before that they would rather have a smaller, stronger, more suitable soldier count. in other words, conscripts make for shitty soldiers. the military has even requested further downsizing, but congress as of now refuses to allow more base closures.

it also says "OR a period of civilian service in furtherance of the national defense and homeland security, and for other purposes."

(2) in a civilian capacity that, as determined by the President, promotes the national defense, including national or community service and homeland security.

lets think realistically. as crazy as the current president may seem, would he define community service as engagement in combat as a civilian? would anyone?

the funny thing is that this is really nothing new. the bill is merely an update, including all that jive about homeland security. the inclusion of women is the most eye-catching part. but heres something funnier:

http://www.sss.gov/

and then there are those who believe the government is 100% shady to the last drop. i cant do anything to argue that. at least im not a citizen of south korea. gyeon-woo is my hero. he has a sassy girl.
